Bethany Offers Mental Wellness – After receiving a Mental Health Initiative Grant from the Center for Congregations in 2024, Bethany began a Mental Wellness Ministry that offers tangible resources to support the mental health of members of our congregation and the wider Evansville community.
Mental Health and the Church Event – August 30, 2025
Bethany hosted an event to expand awareness and give opportunities for renewing communities of faith to embrace, affirm, and build up our siblings with mental differences. For more information, including links to videos of event sessions and meeting materials, click HERE.
Sensory Support
Bethany has a supply of noise canceling headphones and ear muffs, weighted blankets, fidgets, and children’s activity bags for use during worship. We are in the process of repurposing a room adjacent to the sanctuary as a low-stimulation environment with soft lighting, quiet activities, and a sensory tent.

Tai Chi
Bethany hosts a Tai Chi class at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesdays. Tai Chi has been described as “meditation in motion” and has been used to reintegrate body and mind following trauma and to manage stress. Matt Rundle, who teaches the class, says, “Tai Chi is a martial art that focuses on getting in touch with your body, mind, and spirit by being in the moment through slow movements. Through these movements, healing is possible.”

Art Journeys
Art Journeys meets on Thursdays at 6pm. Jean Page continues to offer many opportunities for reflection, learning, and mindfulness as she leads this wellness program. Join us as we continue to explore how acts of creation can calm the body and mind and fill the spirit. Art supplies are available and free! All ages and abilities are welcome.
Midday Mindfulness – Suspended (for now)
Bethany’s Midday Mindfulness held weekly on Thursdays has been suspended and will resume when there is greater interest. Want to meditate with Bethany but midday on Thursday doesn’t fit your schedule? Please contact Pastor Michelle by email revmichellebrown@gmail.com or text (317-372-3926) with a day/time that works better for you, and Bethany will do its best to accommodate everyone who responds.
Therapy Fund
Bethany chose to set aside some of the grant funds it received to create a therapy fund to cover out-of-pocket expenses for mental health treatment. This money is available for church members and non-church members alike.
